‘Twas a Mirage

Into a zigzagging maze, the aisle shape-shifts
Rounding a bend, a voice sings morning greetings
Onto a pair of bright smiling eyes, another pair gazes
The one is spellbound, the other unknowable

Heavy in the chest a heart races
Disobeying the force of will a pair of eyes pursue
Bend after hairpin bend a hunt ensues
The one loses the other before either ever belongs

The Rona armor casts a cloud in the one
Yearning, the one stretches a pair of miserable arms
Instead of solace, the heartless truth is beckoned
The mirage of their togetherness
