A Poem for Mothers’ Day

Speak not
Of “the other gender”
For othering stinks of chauvinism
Tell me not
About “the weaker sex”
For what “weaker sex”
Could be a mother?
Where would the world be
If it were not for mothers?

“Mother” isn’t a mere title
It is strength
It is tenacity
It is multitasking
It is the sustenance of a generation
And the continuation of humanity
The bridge between life before it begins
And life once it begins

Hence
To all mothers,
All would be mothers,
And all the mothers in waiting
The world tips off the hat today
Happy mothers’ day!
